Sieu Sieu BBQ Reviews

Yo, I could not shut up while eating the food I got from here. Pre-COVID this place was okay, but as of late, it seems they've stepped it up a notch. They used to only take cash before, but now they're accepting the plastics! I got a bit of all the big favs in my household--roasted pork, bbq pork, and roasted duck. The roasted pork and bbq pork was f'n JUICYYYY. When the lady behind the counter was prepping our order, she filled it up with the drippings from the pork. Each and every bite came with an oomph and an UGH, since it was so perfect, lol. Roasted duck came with the peeerrrrfect dipping sauce. THEY PAIRED SO WELL TOGETHER! Alllllll of em were cooked to PERFECTION, and they all were seasoned SO WELL! I just love how lightly salted each of the entrees were, plus they didn't go ham on the five spice either! While chowing down the meal, the husband looked at me with oogly eyes and thought I was a bit dramatic, but hey....I'm not wrong! He too, thoroughly enjoyed the juicy and flavorful meal, haha. Best devoured the day of. For leftovers, they do well in a pinch but it's not quite the same. I recommend doing 1/2 pounds for the 3 pork entrees for 2-3 persons.

Solid Cantonese barbecue spot! They speak Cantonese and made me feel at home. I ordered two combo plates, with two meats each. One with crispy pork and roast duck, and the other with crispy pork and chasiu (barbecue pork). The crispy pork was very good - skin was nice and crispy, flavor was savory but not overly salty. Chasiu was good too - would have preferred it to be a tiiiiny bit fattier but it was still delicious. The roast duck was mediocre and kind of a miss. Flavor was decent but the texture was too dry. Huge portions with lots of rice, protein, and pickled veggies! Remember to ask for a side of the scallion ginger oil (so good!) They do take card but charge 3% for any card transactions. Bring cash if you can.

Went in at the end of the day for a quick bite and to wait out traffic. I was worried the pork would be dry. I was pleasantly surprised by juicy, flavorful meat and crispy skin!!! For $12 with rice and pickled veggies, this was a solid value!

Solid chinese bbq in San Diego. This review is specifically for their whole suckling pig. Ordered it for my dad's birthday and do they deliver. Perfect skin and juicy meats. My dad is from Hong Kong and he was pleased. If you have chinese aunts, you know how picky they are with their food. They all complimented SieuSieu's suckling pig. #win Make sure to order in person ahead of time (minimum 7 days) and pay the down payment in person (cash preferred). Large suckling pig + $25 cutting fee (100% recommend) is $420.

Okay so I've never really gotten roasted pork or cha siu in San Diego. When I'm in LA I always get them both, but for some reason I just never really bothered with SD. I regret that. The roasted pork here is moist, juicy, flavorful, fresh. The crunch of the skin is still there even after microwaving too. It's not salty at all, and it's so good in the moment, and so good as left overs. The cha siu. Flavorful and also very moist, it's dry in some parts, but I also like that too. It's terrific as left overs as well. I've tried tons of roasted pork places in LA and I have to say this place ranks in the top 5. The meat is so good, even as left overs, and it's not salty at all. This place is definitely pick up and go, and I could tell their roasted pork is popular as they had full pig orders ready to be picked up. The meat is sold by pound and everyone is super friendly!

August Stop 33 We decided to stop by this small local shop for takeaway on a busy Sunday. The workers were super super sweet, and would definitely want to go back to support! Since it was a new spot, we wanted to try all the BBQ classics! We got the roast pork, BBQ pork, roast duck, and steamed chicken! Since we got it togo, it probably did not taste as great as when it was fresh, but overall it was nice to have some Cantonese BBQ in San Diego! Out of what we got, I would say the BBQ pork was my favorite, but also all the plates come with this great jasmine rice and pickled vegetables. Something about their pickled vegetables just hit so hard. They were not too sour or spicy, but more sweet which helped cut the fat of all the food. Also, the rice. I don't know what it is but this rice with some sauce from the BBQ pork is so nostalgic and so so yummy. Check out this place if you can!

Didn't know this place existed until I stumbled into Sieu Sieu BBQ restaurant while visiting another store in the same plaza. No frills restaurant but authentic Cantonese BBQ! When they were chopping the roast pig in pieces, I can hear the crispy sound of the skin. 3 hours at dinner time, the roast pig skin is still crispy and the meat was perfectly seasoned (not too salty)!!! Also got a salted chicken. It was cooked just right, no blood still in the bone. Meat was juicy and tender. They also gave a big container of ginger onion condiment for dipping sauce. Yummy! Price is still a little cheaper than other nearby BBQ stores. Plenty of parking spaces. This is the place for roasted pork and BBQ items. We will be back for more!

Sieu Sieu BBQ is San Diego’s rising star for lovers of smoky, sizzling barbecue. Whether you’re a local craving an upgrade from the usual or a traveler searching for where to eat near Clairemont Mesa Blvd, this spot is where bold flavors meet warm hospitality. The moment you step in, you’ll smell why people are raving.
Discover bold flavors at Sieu Sieu BBQ on Clairemont Mesa Blvd
Tucked right at 7420 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Sieu Sieu BBQ is a gem for anyone hunting down top-tier grilled meat in San Diego. What makes it special isn’t just the food—it’s the experience of gathering around sizzling meats with friends, family, or even strangers who quickly feel like old buddies. From the first bite, you know this isn’t your average barbecue joint.
The menu is a full-on firework show of grilled perfection. Think juicy cuts of beef, pork belly that crackles just right, and spicy marinated chicken that clings lovingly to the bone. If you're a fan of Korean-style barbecue but want something even bolder, this place will light up your taste buds. Every dish feels like it's been crafted with attention—Sieu Sieu barbecue doesn’t just grill meat; they honor it.
No matter the day, the vibe inside is laid-back, but full of energy. The sound of meat sizzling on the grill and the clink of chopsticks are as much part of the experience as the food itself. Plus, it’s perfect for group dining, with spacious seating and a menu designed for sharing. Bring your appetite—and maybe your stretchy pants.
Experience sizzling meats, rich marinades, and crave-worthy sides
Everything here feels intentional. The cuts are thick and marbled, the marinades are complex but balanced, and the charcoal grill gives it that unmistakable edge. Try the beef short ribs—tender enough to melt, flavorful enough to haunt your dreams. Or go for the spicy pork shoulder that comes off the grill with a caramelized edge and fiery personality.
What surprised us is how much thought goes into the sides, too. You get crisp kimchi, cooling radish pickles, and a killer egg soufflé that’s almost too pretty to eat—almost. There’s steamed rice, of course, but also bold dipping sauces that bring every bite to life. Every element enhances the next, making each meal feel like a story being told course by course.
Even better, the team here clearly knows their stuff. The staff is hands-on but not hovering, always ready to adjust your grill or offer a pro tip. You can tell they’re proud of what they serve—and rightly so.
A local favorite that's drawing attention across San Diego

And location-wise, it’s a win. Right in the heart of Clairemont Mesa, it’s easy to pop by after work, make a night of it on weekends, or bring out-of-town guests who want something uniquely satisfying.

I always like roasted pork .you need to come early to get a fresh roast pork while the skin still hot and crunchy sometimes I came late in the day and it's not that good in the evening. Also the roast duck too . I like them both . I came back very often. . The place just like Chinese fast foods , it's not really clean as it's suppose too . The lady was very nice to help you to choose a good piece and she'll chop to small pieces for you .
